Medieval and Modern History

In Medieval and Modern History students are taught basic facts and problems of the medieval and modern history of Europe and the overseas world as influenced by Europe in the modern era. By discovering historic roots, students will gain a deeper understanding of central aspects of the contemporary world order.
The aim of the course in Medieval and Modern History as a historic secondary subject is to make students aware of historic dimensions of all life and to sharpen their appreciation of historic contexts. In the field of key qualifications, the emphasis is on gaining expertise in Latin and modern foreign languages, which are of vital importance for historians.
The master’s degree course introduces independent research.
